In the 2011-12 school year, Burlington High School embarked on a 1:1 initiative with iPads. Each student has an iPad, and the Department expects that students will be in possession of the iPad for class each day.
The Department has no standard policy for use of the iPad, and teachers are free to make as much or as little use of the iPad as they deem appropriate to their classrooms.
Students are expected to abide by the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy that they sign at the beginning of the year, and teachers will enforce that policy in the classrooms.
It is recommended that students adopt one productivity app for use in their Social Studies class. The department does not make a specific recommendation, nor does it require a particular platform for use; however, students in some classes have found that Evernote, Notabilty, SundryNote all work well for notes and organization, while others have found that a cloud-based storage program such as DropBox in conjunction with CloudOn meets their organizational needs as well.
